Exhausts / back boxes / Supersprint / Custom?

Hi,

I am looking at getting a supersprint exhaust backbox for my Mk1 Golf GX 1983 (can't afford the full system)

I want to get the Group A backbox where it flicks up and out to the side (quite thin in diameter)

I am having trouble finding this but have found 2 backboxes on venommotorsport.com which will fit my car and my questions are has anybody got one and what do they think?
How do they sound?
Whats the difference between stainless steel and mild steel exhausts?
Do they flick up and out to the side?
And are there any other exhausts which have the same style of flicking up and out to the side which also give an increase in performance and sound 'raspy'?

Or would I be better off getting a straight through exhaust from 'RSR' who can make the exhaust the way I want! If I done that would it just sound very loud and not very 'toned' and 'raspy'?

Sorry for all the questions I just want to get the best from my money!

My budget for backbox / system is about ?300.00

Supersprint dont make them for the mk1 any more.

Theres magnex,jetex and mongoose systems on ebay just now,all under ?300. Ive got an upswept supersprint back box but still havent got round to fitting it so couldnt say how it sounds,looks as if itll be loud tho haha.Im not really wanting that so it might go up for sale soon,its practically brand new ,had it for ages!
Oh and mild steel will rust,stainless wont so thats your better bet.As for a straight through system there wont be a huge benifit.If you hell bent on it just chop the cat out your centre section and clamp a section in,then when its MOT time clamp the cat back in for the decibels sake!!

Seach the readers rides, someone just fitted the full system you are talking about to a black Mk1! Cost ?400 though...
