eurocar parts v gsf v dealer

Hi people,

Just a quick question - i will soon be ordering a host of parts to put my engine back together - various gaskets and belts etc….

Where is a better place to order from? in terms of quality and price>?

thanks

Obviously the dealer has the best quality parts but the higher prices.

Then I would say next best is AVS and BBT as well as Crazy Quiffs, normally only slightly worse quality than dealer, and often your only stop for obsolete parts at VW.  Don't forget you can buy loads of parts of this very site.

Then you have GSF and Euro car parts, quality is very hit and miss, value is normally quite good but like I said some of the parts they sell are awfull.

Hope that helps you mate :-)

Agreed! I bought a pair for our Mk2 Polo and they lasted 3 weeks!

I use B&B Components (Tierod69) on ebay as well as AVS, GSF, GPC Luton and ECP.

If you use GSF specify that you only want OE German quality parts, if you order online try to avoid parts with BQ in the description (Brazilian Quality).

Of recent purchases from GSF, all were problematic. The supplied rocker box gasket was incorrect, the water temperature sender was defective (max reading with 10secs of start), the rocker cover studs were incorrect.

Unfortunately the local VAG dealer has no interest or stock of the Golf Mk1 parts that I need and I rely on either CrazyQuiffs or pot luck to support my cab.

The EBay guy, Les Bray, has supplied some repair kits which GSF omitted half the bits - such as a gear linkage and door winder handles.

Wow some good points here - Tim sounds like you had a nightmare  with gsf - as for brazilian quality the whole b word is like a swear word to me so will give that a miss all together ;-0

I only like the b word when it refers to the missus`s mowing skills :-)

its the VRM lookup system that causes that problem, when did you last use ECP as i know first hand that this is now not a problem thanks to a new cataloguing system that works out silly little problems like that
