er?

was down the scrappy acquiring replacement pas hose for my mrs' 6n polo

to my astonishment, there sits a g plate gti cabby in a burgandy mettalic wine colour, with those scale alloys that were on the scirroco.
apparently nothing wrong with it, someone scrapped with the government scrappage scheme. WHAT A WASTE

how completely wrong :banghead:  :banghead:  :banghead: would make a perfectly good car for someone, does this mean it cannot go on the road?

i  don;t know, some people eh?

I hate the scrappage scheme, I'm not going to start moaning about why its wrong but I think im right in saying once a car has been scrapped through the scheme that it cannot be put back on the road. But I can't be 100%. I know someone who saw a beautiful scirroco gt that had been scrapped on the scheme but nothing could be done with it. I couldnt believe it. All the lovelty old cars are being scrapped in favour of new kia's that last 5 years and then rust like hell. Grrrr :x

ye once its been scraped it`s goin to the crusher (after everything salvageable`s gone from it) :( at the end of the day the only way to stop the scheme getting rid of mk1`s is if the value of em go up past 2k then its un-economical to scrap them as you`d get more privately.

That schemes a b#####d!
Not just mk1s that's the problem old cars no matter what they are have more character than a brand new car! The cars that they are buying when they get rid of them are nothing to most of the older cars more fun to drive! Find me a new car that sounds as good as a old petrol engine! Who cares about the 70 mpg lol

I hate this scheme with a passion

The thing is its about being environmentally friendly but surely scrappign cars over the age of 10 years and then buying a new one is much worse than running and older car for longer. I mean how much pollution must be made building and shipping new cars around the world. compared to using a little more fuel?

AFAIK the car can be dismantled for spares, obviously as with any other scrapped car it can't be reregistered on the roads though.

i know any old car thats scraped threw the normal routes can be stripped for spares, but that trade in shecme i remember reading ther for crushing only, most scrap yards don't play buy the rules any way but i'm pretty sure there ment to be crushed and nothing removed

Imagine the impact this scrappage scheme is having on the average mechanic too, theres gonna be far fewer cars going for repair etc…
