Is it worth making those links down the left a bit bigger?

Or putting them on the homepage in massive writing?

Thanks mate, but i am read that already, and i still dont know fo shore.
i am thinking on one combination:
18 16v+dellorto dhla 40!
what you think about that?

The 1.8 16V will have had fuel injection - replacing this with carbs offers no particular performance gains. Some people do it for other reasons, though.

Don't know myself mate, never done one.
Depends on how much work you want to do, how easy it is to get hold of the engine you want where you live, and more specifically whether you can afford the fuel bill if you want a carbed 16v…

because it hawe bether sound, litle bit more power and lpg system will work beter.
why not?

Why not - cost, fuel consumption, harder to tune, less power, not as smooth running. Carbs don't produce more power; at least, the K-Jet fuel injection system can just as easily be modified to produce more power than carbs (it runs lean at the top on a 1.8 due to fuel economy reasons, which was designed into the car. So carbs might (once properly set up) overcome this, but K-Jet can be easily adapted to also overcome this too).

think this comes down to an american myth that a carburator can be tuned to produce more power from a v8 than a fuel injection system. which it can if the v8 has been built with californias emissions laws in mind.

emissions laws dosnt worry me at all,i just want more power.
laste year i was hawe an '82 gti with 1,8 16v k-jet engine and it was run just fine, but i hear that carbs can give up to 160hp on that same engine.
is that true?

No you've misunderstood! There is a MYTH that carb engines can be tuned to be more powerful than those with fuel injection. This comes from USA EMISSIONS legislation historically (back in the 1970s, when there were unregulated cats, air injection pumps, etc etc).

Who told you that a 16V can give you 160bhp on carbs? Did they neglect to mention the same engine running on injection, could make more than 160bhp?

really, they didn*t say that he can make more than 160hp on injection.
what shud i do that i increase power of my engine?
i hawe excelent exhaus sistem,2 inch diameter made by hartmann

On a 1.8 16V? Ported and polished head, matching inlet manifold, throttle body and exhaust manifold (ie ported to match); optimise fuelling and ignition possibly with an aftermarket ignition ECU and/or converting to electronic fuel injection (still a lot can be done with the K-Jet, if you sacrifice fuel economy and driveability on part throttle, for full throttle power); increase rev limit to 7800rpm or more (this is not trivial - you have to balance the bottom end to safely increase the rev limit).

Better still, instead of spending large amounts on the 1.8 16V, start with one of VW's 2.0 16V engines - for example 9A, or ABF. This is naturally more powerful due to more capacity.

Note, I've not mentioned cams or larger valves - the 16V already has pretty much the maximum size of valve, unless you sacrifice reliability; and cams don't really help that much because the KR cam is pretty good as it is.
