Engine sizes and years

I'm trying to pin down all the years and engine size changes/what was made in each year and petrol/deisel… can you guys help me out pleas?

So far I have:

'74 - 1.1 petrol, 1.5 petrol
'75 - 1.1 petrol, 1.5 petrol
'76 - 1.1 petrol, 1.5 petrol, 1.6 petrol (gti), 1.6 diesel
'77 - 1.1 petrol, 1.5 petrol, 1.6 petrol (gti), 1.6 diesel
'78 - 1.1 petrol, 1.5 petrol, 1.6 petrol (gti), 1.6 deisel
'79 - 1.1 petrol, 1.3 petrol, 1.5 petrol, 1.6 petrol (gti), 1.6 diesel
'80 - 1.1 petrol, 1.3 petrol, 1.5 petrol, 1.6 petrol (gti), 1.6 diesel
'81 - 1.1 petrol, 1.3 petrol, 1.5 petrol, 1.6 petrol (gti), 1.6 diesel
'82 - 1.1 petrol, 1.3 petrol, 1.5 petrol, 1.8 petrol (gti), 1.6 diesel

Please correct anything I have listed as wrong as I need to get this list correct :dontknow:

There is already a good bunch of info on this website. Go to the home page then look at the "Series 1 data" links on the right.

Your list has a few obvious errors in it - 1.6 petrol non GTI in 1976, diesel started out as 1.5, etc etc

The diesel strating as a 1.5 is exactly why I posted this as I was not aware of it, when did it change to a 1.6 please?

Early big block was not 1.5 but 1.6. The injection engines were also put in the GLi for UK.

Thats where I got this info from. So going by that my last list is correct as it does not list a 1.6 until '76.

I'm not worried about the models, just the engine sizes that were fitted. I have just used 'Gti' to show it is fuel injected, I'll change that to make it easier to understand though  :wink:
