engine conversion 1.8 Ex code to .....?

I've got a cabby with  engine 1.8  EX, there is no much info on forum about this engine and posible conversion. Could someone give me any suggestion what kind of engine put instead of my old one. Which is the best, easiest for conversion and of course does not cost fortune.
