Early ceramic fuse box

Post

Just a quick question, I'm looking at doing an eng conversion on my 1.1 x reg mk1. But I've been reading about fuse boxes and as I have a ceramic early type is it going to cause me problems putting a 1.8t or ABF into it.
Cheers

Would have thought an X-reg 1100 (Golf C ?) had the later Series 2 style fuse board?

1983 Mars Red 1.8 Golf GTI
1987 Alpine White 1.8 Clipper Cabriolet

The trouble with doing nothing is that you never know when you are finished.

I might be wrong but it does NOT have the blade type fuse so I'm assuming its what is regarded as the ceramic type.

Its doable but advicable to upgrade to the CE1 fusebox whilst your into the electrics so you get the greater flexibility (less splicing/relays)

Thanks for the reply mate. Any guides available for the CE1 fuse box upgrade?

Litterally buy a interior loom, a fusebox, a rear loom and then the engine loom to mod with whatever you want to run.  I had mine done by Rubjohnny tbh mate as I know it will be right

you can run abf/20v on the ceramic fusebox but i strongly recommend you dont, its a terrible design and just doesnt have the feeds you need so you end up with relays and jumper wires everywhere

Hello my name is John and I'm a dub addict.

My wiring diagrams and other documents have moved here:

You'll need to sign into google/gmail for the link to work! (its free!)

Cheers Jonny,
