Earliest Cabriolet in club/forum?

Who has the earliest Cabriolet on the forum?  How different were the initial cabrios 1980 (1980 first year??)

I think Dubboy has a very early one.. In light blue, very nice too..  

i have a B-plate - 1985 - reg'd on january 4th iirc

theres a few V plate (1980) cabs on the register but non with pics thou!

Walt speaks the truth. I have a '80 Model Year GLi with 39k on the clock.



There are a few '79 MYs kicking around but never seen one in decent order. The early cabrios rotted like crazy. The S1 cabrios ('79 and '80 MY) shared all the differences between S1 and S2 hatchbacks, most notably the early dashboard and on GLis the Wolfsburg steering wheel, 12 spoke alloys and 2 pod centre console with voltmeter. They also had different tonneau covers, rear interior panels with no speakers and no rear seat belts. Mine has dealer fitted spot lamps.

My August 82 GL 1500 for the record….

My 82 X was 1st reg 08.01.82, so must have been made before Christmas, though still an 82 MY.

All the subtle mods I have done to mine tell you what you can't beat a stocky! They look really quality!
