Donor cars..

Post

I'm just after some advice and experience that people have with donor cars..

I'm looking at having something nice and turbo'd put in the front of the golf.
A friend had a 1.8 16vt from an 01 passat, running around 230bhp..
I've found it a bit tricky finding such a car, but I have found a number of Seat Leon's 1.8 20vt (agu me thinks) does anyone have and experience with these?

What cars have other people used?

I think AGU is a popular engine to go with, there is a few of the Berkshire guys are running them.  So next time at the meet they could show you or just ask on the fb page.

I've got one.  The one I have is officially classed as the sport (although most people call it the cupra - not the cupra r).  It runs the auq engine with the KO3S (I think)turbo  & runs 180bhp through a 6 speed gearbox.  Tuning is pretty straight forward as with all 1.8t's.  I've also driven the golf MK4 GTI which runs 150bhp & imo the leon feels a fair bit quickier.  My intention is to run it & use it as a donor car for a mk1 golf once I'm done with it.  IMO they currently offer really good value for money as you can pick up a half decent one for about £12-£1500.  Hope this helps

Yeah, nice..
I've been researching possibilities, and the Seats seem to be very good value for money. You can pick up a whole car for about the same as other engine blocks on their own..

My van however isn't playing nicely so any further investment may have to go on the back burner.  :'(
