Does anybody know this car?????????

Bit of a long shot, but I've got a late 82 GTI, LTU 290Y, that has been in my possession since Christmas 2003. It's a resto and will have its day soon, but just wondered if anybody knows anything about it at all as I'd love to have a bit of its life history. I believe it lived in the Middlewich area of Cheshire for a few years, late 90's/early 2000.

Don't have any pics to put up as yet but here's a few details:

Rather a 90's looking animal - here goes:

1.8 16v conversion
256mm brake conversion + rears - Audi calipers, goodrich hoses
all black rear clusters
TSW Hockenheim R's, 15"
Single lamp grill
debadged and delocked tailgate
Coilovers, strut braces front and rear

Have collected a number of original parts along the way with the intention of returning to a fairly standard look but retaining the 16v and braking capabilities.

Colour wise, it is a metallic green very similar to this:

 

Also, can anybody advise how I determine the original colour as the boot sticker has long since departed.

I would be very grateful for any help.
