Yomp

It was late when I posted this and was tired :-)

Their customer service and lack of information has been shocking.

From an email staring my alarm wasn't CAT 1 and I needed to replace it, when it was CAT 1 and they had put the wrong alarm into their system ??  to 1 of the 7 photos I sent for the agreed valuation being missing, even though I counted them into the envelope myself.

To now getting another email saying that due to not declaring all my mods when I got the quote, I owe them a further £27 !! No details why and what I never said in the phone but I declared on the phone and the mods paperwork, my exhaust, wheels and suspension, the only other thing that I put on the paperwork was airfilter and I might not have said that on the phone.

If that is the reason for £27 a year then they must be joking, £27 a year for a filter. The  only reason I got the air filter was for longevity. It might not be the filter but they haven't said what it is that I haven't declared ?

So all in all their lack of detail in emails has been criminal, I have no idea what mod I never declared and got 5 emails from them yesterday, 2 the same with the agreed value, 1 with another mods sheet, 1 legal looking sheet and the last email was the £27 one. 5 emails and I still don't know what mod I never declared !!  and why have I got another mod sheet ?

From an original quote of £191, the time everything is added on it will be around £240, which is 25% up.

Considering Lancaster who I was with before was £175, I wish I had never left !!

Sorry for the lack of info last  night but I had a few wheat beers :-)

They have been ok with me. They were a little annoying when I first started with them. When I first got my golf it had a 1.1 engine as the original 1.3 had blown up. So I replaced the 1.1 with a standard 1.3. They tried arguing that because I had changed the engine the car was not standard and I'd have to pay more for a modified car. I argued I'd changed a modified car back to standard. It took ages to make the girl on the phone realise that it was the standard engine for that model. Was very frustrating. Then I got a letter saying they were going to cancel my insurance because I didn't give them the engine code. i tried to find it but the engine was so crusty and I didn't know where it was supposed to be stamped. They said if I don't get it by the end of the Day that my insurance is void and non refundable. Is already paid in full. I took the car to a garage to find the engine number. I had to book a half day at work to do this. The garage showed me the engine number had been removed(stolen engine? Bought it on ebay). When I rang flux to tell them they said if its not there it doesn't really matter as they don't really need it?!!! But earlier they were going to cancel my policy? That's all the hassle I've had with them. It was the same girl on the phone for both. For everything else, they have been fine.

To be honest I wont use AF ever again as I felt ripped off by them a few years ago.

My first 944 was an S2 model, I insured it with them fully comp for about £400 and it was the most competitive quote.

About 4 months later (long story! lol) I then chopped the 944 S2 model in for an early 944 model, which was less in value and is always cheaper to insure - on Compare the market for eg when you got a quote for both cars, the earlier car always came out at about £150 - from AF even.

However, when I updated my policy they wanted another £130 quid or so from me! Why????!!!!

After a lot of arguing with them and asking them to justify the increase, they eventually dropped it but with admin fees etc I still had to shell out about £60.

What I also didn't know (read the small print!) is that as it's a classic policy when I told them I'd just cancel and go elsewhere I was not entitled to a refund.

So basically they had me over a barrel to shaft me!

Sorry, old rant coming out - but from my personal experiences with them I wouldn't use them again.

On the flip side, I'm sure they have many happy customers :)

Certainly the best car insurer I've ever dealt with

If I can't cancel I will just stay the year and then leave never to return.

In my 25 yrs of driving I have never had even the smallest issue with all the companies I've used and now I have had more hassles in 3 weeks than in those 25 yrs !!

I wish I had just stayed with Lancaster especially now as they were not only better but £75 cheaper !!

Exact same circumstance for me Chris. I can be V stubborn so I was tempted to tell them to stick it and go elsewhere anyway but the only looser would have been me!

Try Performance Direct next time too - my 944 Turbo was only £150 with the fully comp!  :o

Thanks guys

I will now wait to see or hear what my undeclared mod is ??

I actually don't even think that they will even tell me, I don't even know why I have another mods sheet to fill out, I have no idea at all ??

Tbh they have the provide the worst level of information or lack of it that I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with.

I will need to look over all their emails later to see if I can try to understand what happens next !!

I've no idea :-/

Your right but with me AF are now nearly £75 dearer than Lancaster, so not only a poor customer performance bl**dy dearer as well.

I have messaged Dan from AF this forum and emailed AF directly, so I will see how long it takes to resolve things ??

Chris, i know they usually dont offer any refunds after policy taken out if you cancel, but surely you cash push them on the grounds of the bad service and you might have 30 days to cancel and get refund ?

Rich

My issue now is I don't even know what I've to do ??

They have given me an agreed valuation but told me I've not declared all my mods ?? So what have I not declared ?? I don't know so AF can you please tell me :-/ then I've got another mods sheet sent to me, for what ?? AF please tell me as I have no idea :-/

Lastly they want more money, AF please tell me for what, as I've no idea.

AF are a nightmare and I will never go back once I have done my year and I will tell everyone in the Scottish region not to touch them with a barge pole !!

So I no doubt will need to phone them again and wait in the queue as usual to find out what is wrong this time.

Right

After the usual 10 min wait in the queue, I got thru to a lovely girl called Amy.

The £27 is for not declaring the air filter in the original phone call but putting it on the modification sheet.

So how can a £20 air filter cost £27 a year premium ??

Amy now has told me that its £7 for the filter and a £20 admin fee, what a joke

I have managed to get the admin fee waived and I am now paying £7 to add the filter on.

I cant cancel the policy, so I will let it run for the year but I am away next year even if AF are half the price as they are useless.

If on all the different emails, the correct details had been provided ( like - £27 additional premium is for an airfilter that wasnt declared at the original quote and it consists of £7 with a £20 admin fee ) then it would be half the battle, at least I would have the relevant information at the time, instead of having to phone, again, to get it.

My advice is - if your happy with your insurance company and there renewal price is okay, then stay put and definitely dont got to Adrian Flux.

I cancelled my existing policy with a charge and am now paying £40ish more with AF than I was with Lancaster, so it has cost me money, time , effort and heartache to get to the same place that I was with Lancaster.

I am an ar**.  :P  :P

Dan , if you read this, I think your company has serious issues with customer service to sort out.

I have never dealt with such an amateur company in all my days !!

And between what I read on here and the texts that other members have sent me, I am not the only one with these same issues.

Sorry to hear this Chris. Had a few issues myself about 9 yrs ago with the RS turbo :(

Perhaps Dan can look into this for you?

Well ive never had any issues with them but with any insurance companys when they ask about mods you have to tell them everything and i mean everything thats non standard to the car, you miss something out and have an accident they will fight tooth and nail not to pay and that goes for all insurance companys.. as for the admin fee, i was charged £25 to move a car from one policy to another with Swinton insurance, i asked what the £25 charge is , it was Admin fee and it took them 2 mins to change..

Had first class service from Adrian Flux today having called them for a quick quote after being left waiting on the phone for 15 minutes by Footman James, really good customer service and cheaper than Footman for the same policy.
