Chirpy chirpy cheep!

Hi all, just wondering if any of the mk1 gurus can answer my question before I lay down in the rain!
Every time I accelerate I hear a little chirp as I shift through the gears, kinda like a poor mans wheelspin lol. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks in advance. :dontknow:

I am no expert but clutch or thrust bearing?

I hadn't thought of that because it does it with the clutch fully engaged and it only happens on forward acceleration even when you are coasting and put the boot in? Thrust bearings tend to whistle all the time and i'm thinking its a bad engine mount or something as it happens when the engine/drivetrain is under the load of acceleration??

have you got a small bird stuck underneath your accelerator pedal? :-)

It could be that mesh gasket at the downpipe for the exhaust - when any torque come on the engine it pulls the engine forward ever so slightly and returns back when the revs go off - metal on metal squeek, chirpy chirp???

Cheers Hugh.

Cheers guys it's at the mot station as I type will take a look at all of these first, the exhaust diagnosis seem most likely at the moment. Thanks again!
