Changing the V5 and then insuring a 16v...

….how much of a bugger is this gonna be?

its a 1.1?

might just change it back :?  :?  :?

any advice?

Whats the problem?I have a 1.9 tdi in my Mk1 it was a 1.5auto until I got my hands on it :D,just sent the log book off with new engine number and change of CC as well as fuel type.Insured with Adrian flux no probs.

DVLA wanted proof of the engine swap for me.

I got my garage to confirm the new engine # on headed paper.
I also had to get Seat (or whoever your engine manufacturer is) to confirm the capacity.  for this an email from customer services was ok.

Insurance etc

I had a Mk1 gti with a 2.0 8v in her prior to my TDI and the Diesel was £100 cheaper than the Gti :D when I renewed my insurance,It does depend on age where you live etc but I'm paying about £250 TFT which isn't to bad for a modified car I didn't think.
