Changing colour

Just wondering what peoples views are on changing colour of a mk1. I'm nearing the painting stage on my project which is originally an 83 lhasa green gti. but i'm completely in love with 1 of the older colours Lofoten green but that was only used on earlier models and run out in 76.

colour examples:

Lhasa: old pic of mine, bit depressing with how it looks now lol

its your car mate do what you like, unless you want it completely original then you would have to stay lhasa green. but i prefer lofoten too :D

Hi there Gazvenn

I understand your dilema - both colours suit a Mk1 - but to me however, because I associate lofoten with earlier cars, I realy think it looks just right on chrome small bumper, small rear light - minimalist look models - with a tan interior.

I am not sure how it would suit a series 2 "late model" with larger back lights and larger black bumpers and black GTI striped seats

- however it depends what look you are going to create with your own car.

In original normal series 2 GTI spec  - Lhasa is a stunning colour - tricky choice.

Regards

Rivage you've hit the nail right on the head that's exactly how I feel and can't decide on those reasons. Much thinking to be done.

Go for whatever colour you like mate, it's only a car!

Personally I'd go for the lofoten.

But then it all depends if you want to keep in with the originality of the car etc etc

Really it's all on you buddy.

IMO any early colours on S2's look horrific.

The only thing about the original colour is the car is worth mOre if it's the way it left the factory

another small thing to add is i'm doing the paint myself and think i feel a bit more confident going for a solid colour rather than metallic
