Cars getting scrapped

Is it me or is there a large number of cars getting scrapped just to sell off all the bits on Evil-bay or on forums.

I know some cars or beyond repair, but some of these cars look ok

It just seems a shame that a complete car is broken down rather that been saved

Rant over, it just makes me sad  :boohoo:  :boohoo:

my car still needs allot of welding done and i found someone about to scrap / break a really good 5 door series one so I'm saving it and swapping engine out off mine and doors and bonnet to make one good series one

but yes scrapping old shell shame tbh but got to be done

I know some cars are beyond help and to make one good car out of 2 or 3 is great.

I have been using a scrap car myself, the shell is shot and will never be fixable, so it has been a valuble source for body clips/fixings and the like.

I think E-bay has caused a lot of good cars to be destroyed just for a quick buck.

guess if its real gone then this is acceptable!! but I have seen some very worthy shells get cubed and as we know they don't make them anymore!! and the standard of whats saveable will keep changing as they become fewer in numbers …although having said that as they fall into the hands of enthusiasts hopefully those that remain will be treated accordingly!!

On the other hand..at least the bits get used thanks to Ebay. An awful lot of Mk1s have gone to scrapyards, or even straight to the crusher without being properly stripped…all because an enthusiast hasn't got to them in time!

Sadly my '93 cabrio will be going to the great breakers in the sky in the very near future - front end shunt and the insurance don't want to know.

It's not always about greed, but obviously it plays a part. I'm going to have to break mine for parts to fund a replacement car for myself, settlement depending.

The real shame of it is, that apart from the front it's spot on, but I don't have the time/money to fix it and I shot myself in the foot with the 'voluntary excess'

Yes there are alot of money makers out their, mine personnally i am sad, but my decision is final due to financial reasons, plus i already have 2 golfs so i am content, but i am not here to make a quick buck, i myself simply am trying to recoupe my money i put into it.
If i can help someone else save another mk1 and keep it on the road with the parts i am selling off my x reg, that i feel is better than letting it get crushed.
I always wanted an original mk1, but things change

moral issues :D
you can only keep so many at one time due to room etc… if you cant sell good parts/shells on here and other car forums people are gonna advertise on ebay
