Car leaking! Please help...

Hi guys,

I have noticed ALOT of water in the drivers side front and rear footwells. After removing the door card I sprayed the hose on the handle and noticed water was leaking through that.

I have since changed the handle gasket but now water is pouring in through the window seal at the bottom of the window.

Is this a common problem and what do I have to change to fix this?

Forgot to mention, my car is a 1984 two door tintop

Thanks

Just check the drain holes are clear at the bottom of the doors, these can end up full of dirt etc, so any water that passes between the window and the scraper seal can drain out. These are called hockey sticks on tin tops, plus there should be a membrane over the door frame also, you can add a second piece to the new membrane so that it points into the door bottom to deflect the water down.
Imagine the roofing felt going into your gutter on the house.

If the seals are shrunk and worn then new ones will help.

Hi there thanks for the reply,

I have cleared out the drain holes they were full of dirt but the odd drop keeps getting through the gap between the bottom of the door card.

The membrane seems intact and stuck well..

Is it worth just changing the scraper seals?

Thanks

Scraper seals will help keep the water out too

Scraper seals are not designed to be 100% water tight.  If water is leaking out of the bottom of the membranes then they are not sealed correctly and thats your issue mate.

Take the membrane off, reseal it and try again mate
