Can i fit complete odometer/speedometer in mk1 from mk2?

First of all sorry for mu english (its not my native language). I have european golf mk1 from 1983. The dashboard its broken (the electronics doesent work) I was wondering if i can put comlete dashboard (with speedometer,odometer,temperature and fuel gauges) from golf mk2. They seems to be even. I appreciate any kind of help. Thanks

You can but the dashboard will need shortening a few inches, and all the clocks and switches will need new plugs fitted to plug the switches into! The clocks from a mk2 mount in a very slightly different way to a mk1 soif you do that you will need to adapt it to fit as will all the wiring need to b re-done for the speedometer- someone on here did write up a complete list of year and models colour wiring with corresponding uses- wish I could remember who it was.......helped me loads with mine!!
