campaign values?
There seem to be cars around for ?2k…that need that spending on them again!
?3k car seem to be shiny ?2k cars!
There is a nice car on PH up for ?6.5k, hard to value such a car.
The plan was to spend up to say ?4k on a good complete solid car which doesn't need much spending on it to get it spot on…so what so you think I really need to spend to get a decent car??..cheers for reponses

(that should give you a fair idea)
The Mk1 Golf Owners Club
I recently paid just under ?3k for a campaign. Seems solid enough, but needs a small amount of work done to tidy her up a bit. No doubt the list of things to do will be never ending….

After a few months i finally settled on what i wanted and only looked at those nothing else.. my criteria was Campaign, Mars Red, totally original, low miles..
In the end i just kept bumping up my wanted add on this site and eventaully a guy with a minter contacted me. He wanted ?4500 but as it needed some work to make mint i managed to get it for ?4100.
My car had 67500k miles when i bought it and drove very well but the steering felt vague and the pedal was very low, so i have spent approx ?600 on it since then on new standard shockers, new disks, pads and shoes, service, new wishbone rubbers/bottom joint etc etc.
It now drives like new and i am made up with it.
Personally i think if you are going to spend over 4.5k on a campaign you shouldnt have to do anywork to it at all.. everything will have to be spot on.. I was happy to spend 4k on a car that i knew needed some fettling cause it has a full history, low miles, was totally standard and never had a full respray.
Keep looking fella "the one" will show up eventually.

It makes sense to me to spend a bit more on a good one up front rather than get involved in a potentially costly rebuild project.
enjoy your car (seriously envious!)

Personally i think the sites guide prices now need some updating, the classic mags have recently up'ed the A1 catergory by ?500.. which still means i paid ?500 over guide price for mine! Its my humble opinion that a true A1 condition campaign should have a book price of ?4k. I came to this conclusion from the 6 months of searching for mine!
Good luck searching, i still check the various sellers so if i see any examples ill PM you..
