calling all diesel buffs

Does anybody have any info about vw making a 1.3 diesel engine ?

ah yes,a noisey little engine,the bosch fuel pump was mounted the other end of the cam,away from the cam belt and had its own little belt to drive it,it was used in the polo and the seat terra van  :wink:

I have bought one bert , in a 3dr tin top with a 5spd box .. What.'s good or bad about them .?

you sure ita a 1.3D bert? looks like a 1.3 petrol but had a diesel pump on the distributor end?

That's what it reads on the log book , can't see anything on the block has pump thing where dizzy would be

Is it RHD? I hope it's economical because an old style 1.3 Diesel sounds a little under powered and slow….. :dontknow:

It's a left-hand drive , i'm hoping the cheap running will outway lack of performance ,   , 3dr in white very original , needs a polish but sure it will come up a treat

Well the polo version of this engine was only available in europe as far as i know and was running on the mk2 facelift model so from about 90-94.

Jeez was it test for the designers to see how many compoents they could fit in the top right hand side of the engine bay?

Yep original mk1 diesel ,  came from italy , states 1.3 but the engine looks different to that pope mobile. .   I have put pics up on my facebook , can't get pics on here at moment

the facebook pic is a 1.5 or 1.6D jim not a 1.3D,cheap tax then  :wink:

Hi. I've got a 1991 Terra with 1.4 diesel engine. Linkage from gear stick to box seems u/s. I'm assuming engine is from a Panda or Marbella. Any ideas where to buy please? Rang main dealer, he spoke of a "knuckle joint" at gearbox end. This joint is solid metal, splined or sweated on. I'm lost, please help!!
