Dunno how sought they are :dontknow:  as you dont see or find many in my experience, if its very clean and original i guess it would be worth as much as a decent mk1 gti to the right person around 1500-2k

I nearly bought one back in 1993   was white, had the original BBS body kit, the grey and red side decals and the BBS RD alloys

it looked superb, just was not practical in the end

from my best memory the caddy sport only had the 90bhp engine even though it was still an 1800 DX engine

they are cool if you live by the sea and do surfing as you can get the big chrome roll bar frame for the back 8)

91 Rallye Golf, Tornado Red, AMD tuned to 220bhp 227 flb torque 9j x16 Borbet B alloys

^^^^^Sounds about right.

They are quite rare but I don't know how sought after they are. Decent caddies with sound but tatty bodies are coming up to a grand now, that's with a full MOT. Straight ones with nice paint see a grand easily.

I did look into caddys recently but now I've got my van engine out and buying bits for it there's no way I can afford one.

Prices do seem to be creeping up at the moment and caddys may become hot property over the next year. The only problem with pricing a sport is not enough come up for sale for you to accurately guage prices.

Yradave says relax.

Sports are growing in desirability esp. ones that still have their original features in place (interior, body kit, rear bumper, side stripes all specific to the Sport). If it's missing the Sport specific bits, you've got very little chance of finding them second hand (esp the kit - made by Zender by the way). Very clean ones have gone for ?3000 plus recently.
I've seen production figures of 200 mentioned, but I reckon it must be more than this in reality.
The block is the same as the DX Gti engine, but it has a low compression cylinder head that reduces the bhp as mentioned above. Just need to swap in a Gti head to get the power back.
If you've got the chance of one cheap, go for it. Check for rust though as they weren't well built / protected.
Cheers,
Mark

They are quite sought after but they either turn up hackedto pieces or clean as a whistle and expensive.
www.vwcaddyforum.com is pretty useful.  Al is the guy that runs it and knows his stuff.  He's running a vr6 turbo'd truck at the moment.
Hope this helps.
