Cabrio wind deflector - Review

There has been some discusion over if an ebay retailer would offer club members a discount. While we have provided contact details to ShaneHughes, the seller has yet to make contact with the club.

Having decided to purchase anyhow I said I would post a review for other members who where interested in the item.

Having ordered took 12 working days to be delivered, does say on description made to order, but took longer than I expected.
Deflector came in a protective bag, with a set of instructions and fixing attachments in a well packaged box. Must admit the first thing that impressed me was the high quality, dounble stitched, velcro fixing having some form of bendable plate inside so they keep thier shape and dont twist.
Instructions are terrible, took longer to read than simply trying to fit the item, which took approx 10 minutes.
Fit appears superb, shaped bar at the top, snug and tight fit around the back of the car, pictures below for you to decide.

Only negatives I have found so far are the instructions. Also would prefer the hooks that go into the back of the seat to be attached somewhere else. Means removing a couple of the plastic plugs in the back of the seat and I know I am never going to find them, despite putting them somewhere safe.

Off for a drive now, pictures below to make you own mind up, will let you know how I get on.

Thanks for that Djheap22,

That is really useful.   Is the negotiations being done through the club or did you approach Shane yourself?

All I can say is wow what a differance, if you travel without rear seat passengers, would strongly recommend a wind deflector which ever make. I have another softtop and a wind deflector for that didnt make anywhere near the differance as on the Golf, design of car perhaps :dontknow: .

Round town speeds, much quieter, turned down the radio couple of notches.
70 Mph as judged by sat nav  :) , rock steady and totally differant. Significantly less wind turbulance and noise.  :D
Fine to leave up when roof goes up.
Bit more dificult getting to the hood release levers, but can live with that.

Back justy in the nick of time, as started to rain now.

Any negotiations will be via the club, passed on contact details to shane but he hasnt made contact with the club secretary, shame.

Thanks for your review Dj and yes I completely appreciate it would be done via the club.

I just wanted to make sure.  You are right it is a shame as he is missing out on a potential little earner there.

Perhaps he doesnt realise how passionate dubbers are about their cars.

Grins.

Thanks again Dj ;)

DJH,

I've found that when you drop the hook down into the boot, it naturally falls towards a space in the bodywork where the wheel arch and the cross member meet (from memory).

I always hook mine in there. It pulls the top tighter and there in no flapping etc.

I have to agree on the instructions though!!! I bought mine in 2004 and haven't looked back. They are THE best wind protection that you can buy and the XL version as shown above) will stop paperwork or any loose items being blown out of the car.

If you own a cabby and don't own an 'XL' -GET ONE!!!!!
