Cabrio Alarm systems....talk to me!

so… what do you guys have/recommend?

i know ill obviously need a dual zone proximity sensor, but apart from that i figure all i need is a basic cat 1 system.

ill be getting it on BNPL through Gap security, who arent exactly the cheapest  around,  they want ?50 up front and then ?699 in 6months for the avantguarde 5.5, which although brilliant, has some features i dont need (remote start etc) and is quite honestly more than id like to pay!

for ?399 i can get the clifford made hornet maxx system with a dual zone sensor added on, which dont seem like too bad a deal, but is there better out there for that kind of money? toad, viper etc?
or is it worth spending the ?700 on the avantguarde 5.5?

let me know what you guys all think!

where abouts are you?

the guy im going to get mine off says it needs a microwave system which should be good for heating pies as well

don't think a cat1 with the microwave and all the other stuff should be costing ?600+  8O sounds a bit steep to me

Dont ask what your club can do for you, but what can you do for your club?

The clifford avantguarde 5.5 has EVERYTHING!

but yeah its a bit steep! problem is i dont have ?3-400 to pay out up front, but my car HAS to have an alarm, so i have no option other than to go through GAP security on the finance :(

ive got a cobra 7926 cost 320 fitted and it is the nuts, never get false alarms and an excellent microwave bubble when roof is down. never had a problem with it in 2yrs and cat 1 approved

600 is a laugh mate whether its finance or not, see if they do the cobra, if not the get a steering lock until you can afford it

Do you need an alarm for insurance because if not i can sell you the hornet for about ?160. i fitted mine in about 4 hours and it has never given me any trouble. its much better fitting yourself because you can connect the immobilizer properly not just splice it in under the steering colom like all the fitters do. the only thing i cant do is send you the insurance certificate.

600 is a bit much, and for that money you lose what you will save on insurance. - Unless it has a tracker as well.

I have a viper 360 (think, or 380), and is ultra sonic. Has a 'pager' which sends you a message when the alarm or warming goes off and what part of the car has caused it.
Bit of a gimic tbh but for 360 fitted it saved me a lot on insurance.

yeah im just kinda screwed at the minute cos i cant fund it up front, so gap are pretty much my only option as they offer buy now pay in 6 months.

has to have proper installation cert for insurance too.

gonna ring em and see if i can batter some prices down!

___Some insurance companies will not cover you if you have a remote start feature and all must be DTi approved.
Its worth checking with your insurance company.
That price is expensive there are a lot of class 1' cheaper without all the frills you might not need or want and you are going to pay double on that deal and in more debt can you not defer payment on a credit card card or small bank overdraft?__________

im taking it on straight monthly payments. interest works out at ?8 a month, and if i pay it off in full i only pay 2 months interest on top of the balance for the alarm.

remote start invalidates thatcham cat 1 status, unless its the avantgarde 5.5, that is the only remote start alarm system that has cat 1 status.

im not fussed about having remote start, but its not much of a diff in price without so i may as well have it.

Instead of getting it on finance, not thought about a small loan?

I work at a bank and the interest rates are lower on loans than they are on paying back an overdraft and can be cheaper than paying finance with interest.

Also, RBS are currently doing a credit card with 0% interest for 6 months on purchases and 0% interest for 13 months on balance transfers?

If any of that is at all helpful to you  :dontknow:

would be but its in the mrs name as i cant be trusted with credit…..

exactly, the way i see it, if it stops someone from nicking my car once in its lifetime, its paid for itself :)

Exactly that!

Plus you have the luxury of starting and warming up your car before you've even showered, got dressed and ready for work in the morning  :P

yes i do! :) thats only reason i like the idea is that if i leave the heaters on the car will be nice an warm in the morn :)

starting your engine without being in the car is cool the 1st few times, but any novelty gets old after a while!

Haha, I must say I am jealous of this feature!

However, as you said, any novelty wears off after a while.

Bit like marriage you could say?
