buying a standard mk1 golf for hubby to be

Hello I joined this site so that I can get some ideas for a present that I have in mind for my husband to be.

I am looking to buy him the best wedding pressie he could get.

I want to buy him a standard mk1 golf, the reason that I want to buy it standard is that then he can do it up the way he wants.

Any ideas of where to look for this…..

Any help will be very very welcome!!!!

Fantastic present!

Check out the for sale section on here. Alternatively carandclassic.co.uk these will be the most trustworthy (i believe) and should have more of the 'standard' car market.

Again, fantastic present

Never mind him…… MARRY ME!!?!?!?

I like the 1980's golf gti's.  The swallowtail (smaller lights at the back and other minor differences are a bit rare therefore cost far more…. there's a buying guide on here and also what to look out for… golfs suffered from rust issues in certain places… read these and ask as many questions of the users on here as possible before buying… I viewed 15 before settling on mine  8O  … your making the right choice though… the mk1 golf was the original hot hatch and is more fun to drive than even the later models!!!  What a great wife..to-be!?!?!?  :y:

Hello, and welcome to the site!.

You Husband to be is very lucky!, I wish my Mrs would
buy me cars!, I usually have to sneak out and buy
them, and they "appear" on the drive

If you are after a MK1, check out the "For Sale" section
here on the site, that way you will be more likely to get
an enthusiast owned one, or at least one thats been looked
after. There is also a buying guide on the home page, which
points out what to look out for. Alternative is good old ebay
but be careful.

Either way keep us posted, and as an extra present
make him a paid up member and get him to join up 8)

Thank you both for your replies.

I will get home to join soon but I do not want him to know that I am buying him a golf cos I want it to be surprise.

I will have a look at the buyers guide and I will have to start shopping around.

but at least I have got a year to shop around.

xx

does this have anything to do with him having a mid life crisis? if it does, a sports car won't stop him thrustpulsing a 20yr old blonde. he'll just do it in his new mk1.
