brake help

Post

so i have had a whole new brake system put in
mk2 16v servo, new g60 front brakes, mk4 rear brakes, new lines, new m/c …
the problem im having is when the engine is NOT running the brake feel good and solid after a couple of pups of the pedal
however when i start the engine i can put the pedal down until it hits the floor
the vacuum seem to be ok and i have adjusted the brake rods
the only thing i havent played with is the adjustment on the rod back of the servo, can this affect the vacuum ???…:ocf_emoticons__dontknow:????…..

Can't effect the vacuum as such but can have a direct input on the degree of pedal travel. You have bled them throughout and made sure no air or leaks are present.

Yeh that makes sense as the brakes feel like they come on after pressing the brake pedal 3/4 of the way, but when the engine is started it easily goes to the floor without pressing hard, correct me if im wrong but i dont think it can be an airlock as it feels solid when the engine isnt started ?

The only way to check is by bleeding the system. Try using an easi-bleed or similar, that way you get to see if there's small air bubbles. The larger servo will give you a slight increase in pedal travel but this is at the advantaged of increased stopping power.
Are the bleed nipples at the top of the calipers on the rears?

problem solved :) it was the adjustment on the back of the servo needed abit more winding
