BHP figures for your golfs.

I got my 83 GTI rolling roaded today and got a figure of 109 BHP @6.430RPM
I wanted this checked as i have recently fitted an Ashley 4 into 1 and a supersprint system and wondered if it made any differance compared to before.
2 years ago when the only mod it had was a K@N panel filter it made
108.8 @6.500 rpm.
The car has 116K on it.
It made me wonder what was the factory figures for this car and what everybody else has been getting?

198 bhp with a smile :wink:

Standard for the 83 1.8 GTI is 112 bhp and 114 lbft, but most don't get quite that much anymore (they are getting close to 25 years old!)

They run best on superunleaded fuel, which makes quite a bit of difference to most cars.

Mine shows 113BHP. It's a 1.8DX model and the only performance mods are Jetex exhaust and K&N panel filter. At 140k I was pretty happy with that.

only use 97+ fuel

and a grin or two

mine's just a tad under 50bhp

165bhp @ 7022

1.8 8v, standard mk1 wiper motor, but lots of engine work and octane booster!

142.2bhp@6050 rpm and 125.4lbft@4875 rpm, car only weighs 623kg,so happy with that!!

Is that the MK1 or the MK5?

That's the Mk1 :-)

The Mk5 is 230 BHP out of the box

What engine is the MK1 running then?

Rallye G60 with smaller pulley, Jabba chip, Supersprint 4 branch, Radtec Intercooler/Rad and Mk2 16V box.

Mine's 115fwhp
