How long is a piece of string? Insurance is such a personal thing due to all the variables used to quote. One company good for one person may not work for another

Try them all, some sponsor the forum so you might get a better deal that way but as above just because one person gets a good deal doesnt mean you will.

You cant really recommend an insurance company for a person of your age im affraid.

The best bet is to ring round as many as you can and check out the best comparrsion web sites.

At the end of the day its your age that will affect you.

I do feel your pain! I was paying £1300 on my XR31 when I was 18. But that was 15 years ago. And back then, that was a hell of a lot of money. I only paid £700 for the car.

Try as many places as you can mate. This will take some shopping around. I use Footman James. But they may not work for you.

Best of luck.

Stance, if you shop around, search high and low, you will find the right company at the right price.

Dont give up, these are fantastic cars and you will fall in love with them.

Life too short to not experience a Mk1.

As above, best of luck!

As Red-or-dead said your best bet is to shop around.
I was in the same situation a year ago when i wanted to insure my 1.5 GX. I was 20 years old  when i was looking for insurance.
I did a lot of research for classic car insurance companies, probably 20+ and i just rang them up regardless of what they said on their website.
Out of all the insurance companies Peter James were the only one that would insure me on the GX. On their website it says you have to be 25+ but because i was a paid member on this forum they would insure me.
Footman James said they wouldnt insure me on a 1.5 until i was over 21.

Your best bet, if you find you are in the same situation as me, is to become a paid member on this forum, get yourself a small engine golf (1100 or 1300) and ring around some insurance companies.

My insurance needs renewing at the end of this month and hopefully it will be cheaper as i am 21 now. Will let you know how i get on.
