Anyone using KW V1

Post

Im looking at getting a set of KW V1 in the stainless version and wondering if anybody is using them as ive got a couple questions.

1. What are the struts like are they the normal threaded coilover front and rear or do they have the seperate adjustable collar as shown on the picture of this ebay link? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/390505344580?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

2. Do they go very low as ive got small wheels and want the car to sit low on the wheels?

The rear suspension set up on a mk1 is with the shock fitted inside the spring. so will not look like that picture! as for how low they go I haven't ran them really low as I was running big tyres and white walls but I'm sure they will wind down pretty far. Specs say - 75mm lower than starred

I dont know what the height measurement I want is but ive got 13" wheels with small stretched tyres and want it to sit nicely over them.

I think the KW's will be ok mate but if you aren't bothered about comfort go a cheaper set of coilovers.

I have them on 2 cars and they are plenty low for me.  It sounds like you want a set of ultra lows.

AH exclusive do a modified H+R ultralow kit for mk1s,you can buy them through a company called stillstatic, if your on the book of face you can do a search for them

I know of the stillstatic thing and im not looking for that kind of low as it means chassis notching and not looking to cut the car about.

you dont need to run them low just because you can, with the shortened dampers that the kit has youll never manage to bottom them out and destroy the internal valving. Thats why im getting a set anyway

I have KW V1 INOX as well as coltec classic top mounts and i can sit the wishbones on the floor and still have about 30mm of adjustment left.. with the helper springs still in. You'll need a chassis notch though..

My ultra low profile jack doesn't go under now  :ninja:

This is 45mm off the floor with lots of threads to go.

Fair few threads left i'd say (raised up 20mm due to the chassis leg been sat on the drive shaft, needs a notch)

Worth the money as there stupidly comfy even this low

Some people say they are harsh when mega low but then again what isn't
