Anyone on here got a LHD GTI?

I bought one for spares last night and it has two glove boxes on the passenger side……… One normal one and one below it above where the passengers legs would be. I'm picking the car up on the weekend and I'll stick a pic up - Is this some rare option or standard on a LHD  :dontknow:

BTW, I'll be breaking the car, so if you need anything - let me know  :wink:

The lower glove box on your is what I'm on about   The top is the same as a "normal" Golf - Hence the two glove boxes

its an 83, came over here in 85 when its owner emigrated to london. i always wanted the dash where the top bit lifts up like normal golfs but like mine now as its a bit different.

I have a lhd mk1 gti mate,maybe interested in a few bits if u can tell us what its like etc.What model,what colour carpet?Could be interested in the dash if its perfect,mines good but has a couple of tiny nicks near where the radio is where someones been a bit rough in the past!

My LHD gti has only one glovebox, but then it's a cabby…not sure what yours is…

I'll be picking it up on the weekend, once it's here, I'll take some pics of it.

Hopefully, it can be saved but if not, most parts will be up for grabs……….

think it may be my old one.there cant be that many left hand drive silver golfs in south wales!.if it is mate i think i have a shit load of paperwork for it that you are welcome to.also the engine in it is excellent(well it was a couple of years ago)has it got mot at the mo?any pics?

It's got a glass sunroof  :cry:  (If that helps?) and it's an A plate………

a956 ubx was the reg and yeah it did have a glass sunroof.brakes were amazing.fancy selling it to me?

It'll need a lot of TLC to get it back to a good car, the roof is buggered and it needs a good bit of welding - On the plus side, although it has no exhaust, the engine runs well and it drives

Dilemma. dilemma, dilemma!!!!!

I bought the car as I need a load of parts for mine and also be good for spares to keep, I have no intention of putting it back on the road as I have enough projects at the mo……..

However, I hate to see Mk1's being killed and as it was once yours, if you think you can save it, make me an offer for it  

I'm in Swansea, you're more than welcome to come and have a look at it first, I'm not in any rush to do anything with it for a couple of weeks.

The roof is buckled where kids have jumped on it (I do have a good roof that I can cut off another Mk1 though with a proper sunroof). Most of the panels are dented, the drivers door is rusted and holed but can be saved. The front bumper is bent and the grill is missing. The rear bumper along with the rear panel have also had a whack.

The car is salvagable if you have the time, love and money for it……………..

oooooo im gonna have to think about this as with your old cars its normally a clouded decision ha ha.do you think you could pm me a ball park figure of what you want for it?also have you got loads of mk1 bits then?as i could do with some bits and pieces.cheers

I haven't got a clue of a figure to be honest, you'd be best off viewing the car if you're interested as it's a bit battered  :cry:

I do have got a load of Mk1 bits though what are you looking for? I've just broken a '84 Campaign (Heavy front end shunt before anyone shouts).
