Done the opposite and purchased a car of ebay.

If it helps I looked for a seller who had a car with low previous owners, as much history as possible and a good range of photographs. as quite prepared to walk away if seller had been dishonest in their description, so I would always advise to be upfront with anything you are aware off that a buyer could be disappointed in when they come to pick up.

putting as much detail about service history and condition will always be worthwhile, eg detailing the service history rather than simply describing as full.

This is especially important over bodywork/chasis condition as even if you post a dozen pictures, the general size of them wont show up everything.

Bought and sold quite a few last year, if you are selling
just put lots of info, otherwise you will just get question
after question, and for future reference, try and make
the end time on a weekend, you get more interest.

You can selec a start /finish time but you have to register
a credit card.

As for buying, ask the questions, ask for photos, and check
their feedback, and make sure they didnt buy it last week
and are re-selling it.

Best of luck

I "found" my VR6 and my sportline on Ebay!! sellers hadnt described either too well and i went to see them within 24 hours and bought them!!

so i havnt technically ever "bought" a car off ebay but its a good advertising tool as so many people get to see whats on offer, i dunno about anyone else but its the 1st place i look when im after something!!

and you often get serious buyers who will actually come and see the car and they have the money to pay for it!!!

bought my cabby off ebay rang the guy for a chat about it and ended up buying it off him privately 2 days later and 4 months on still chuffed to bits with it as he was very honest in his discription and walked me round the car showing any faults(he was abit of a perfectionist)

Bought and sold cars on ebay, never been messed about collected when they should have, job done,
The genuine people who have bought cars off me, a polo g40 and the wife`s clipper both phoned to ask additional information, both knew what my reserve was, both asked good questions.

I would say if some one bids without asking additional information, beware !. They would probably be the peeps that dont turn up.

Mine came of the bay too. No problems to speak of, just the usual  and the fact that I'm a fussy begger so it will never be good enough.

Sold a campervan on ebay. Guy came out, and was over the moon with the van… better than he was expecting  :)
Both parties happy, which is always good  :P

I think aslong as you photograph the car, and are as honest as possible, then you cant go far wrong really  :)

my dad managed to get hold of an old bmw convertible for about ?200

went on ebay the week after and fetched just over a grand 8O

you can get lucky sometimes, all it takes is two people that want the car badly
