Anybody had dealings with 1golfahead.co.uk?

I ordered some parts a week ago and paid by paypal, and I've not recieved anything, and I'm getting no response to emails etc.

I looked on their web forum today, and somebody has said, do not order or pay for parts as they do not reply or send them.

I paid with paypal and thought I would be ok, but paypal have said as its not an ebay item, there is no protection.   not amused, as I'm already trying to pay for bits that were lost or damaged when my car was stolen, so this is just a slap in the face.

They advertise this website on theirs, so thought they would be trusted.

Report the matter to your local Trading Standards office

The person who runs that company is also on this site, under the name scouse i think.

Paypal protection covers any payment sent and recieved weather be ebay or not.

If it is only 1 week then its a bit harsh in my opinion to assume the worst. Could be a number of reasons behind not replying. Have you tried ringing them

Ignore that just looked on there site and assumed there would be a telephone number for someone who sells parts but there is not. So ringing is not an option.

When i 1st joined the forum he was quite a regular poster on here so am sure there are quite a few members on here who can vouch for him

I paid with wap paypal, and it has gone through as a personal payment, for which paypal do not protect. I argued with the paypal person for about half an hour, and then she told me it is paypals policy not to help!?!  I tried to get in touch with 1 golf ahead and rang the number the company had listed on their paypal account, and the woman had never heard of them.
Anyway, its been over a week, and I would expect that from somebody on ebay, but not a supposed company. At least a reply to one of the 3/4 emails would help.
I asked if anybody had any dealings with this company; not opinions on mail order in general. After reading a post on their own forum saying they don't deliver or reply to emails, I got a little disheveled. Hopefully it will be ok, but you must understand how this might make somebody feel, after having their car stolen and returned in a state, and then potentially getting ripped off with replacement parts. This is the last thing anybody would want. That is just adding insult to injury.

What parts did you order?

We have received numerours complaints about this company so all links from this site have been removed..

I suggest logging a complaint/claim process with paypal and try to get your money back

Best place for parts is Crazyquiffs, the clubs official supplier for parts, with great reliability and service, Funk star is also a great source for cabby bits or try the parst for sale section and mayeb place a wanted advert…

Apart from the money, its annoying thinking these bits are on their way so I've not been looking for them elsewhere.

isnt it about time the club took a stand on this and banned him and named him as a scammer how many more times will he do this im sorry but people should be made aware that this guy is a complete waste of space

Agreed, very nearly bought things from this guy in the past before I heard about his antics, and have since warned other people off. Though saying that I haven't seen him on the forum for a while now…

He's effectively banned anyway, mob law has prevailed and his reputation on here has been washed away. The club took a stance and went for an official parts supplier - pretty much creating a monopolistic situation; or at least, tipping the scales heavily into CQ's favour. Nothing wrong with that - long term, it could be a good decision although it does move the club closer to a commercial operation, rather than simply representing a group of (amateur) owners.

That's a pretty fair point Paul, though I would say that if another Mk1 parts supplier came along and was good quality, price and service then I'm sure we would give them equal support as CQ too.
For example we all point people to AVS when they need Febi top mounts!

Sorry i never new this at all, i just remembered that he used to sell quite a few parts on here and assumed he was genuine.

If it was 100% known that he was a scammer with quite a few reports against his name would it not of been better to warn people.

Bought some bits from him at santa pod 2007 as he had a stand there. I have a card at my garage with contact details which i can post if need be. Him and his trade partner seemed very nice and helpful, my old car was posted on his website and shortly after was stolen! But I do appreciate the website has been stale for nearly a year, it could be down to severe bad management of his/their business. I would choose to avoid them now.

i think he staterd of no different to any other supplier then there were  a few horror storys of money and parts going missing ect

i recall he did a engine conversion for someone and screwed it right up giving the owner no come back and a car that was effectivly a death trap ther was a thread on here about it a few months back

so heed the warning avoid like the plague :mrgreen:

Ben you know as well as me ref some previous complaints including lawsuits and slanderous posts etc etc, remember the hood guy thread..
well i had the same from scouse, following the last bout of negative posts about him, so all negative posts are removed upon his request, so untill he complains this time then this can stay…

We cant do much more than we already have as a club…

Being a member does gets benefits from APPROVED suppliers, which scouse - golf1ahead are not - We have no links on this site to his site whatsoever, we cant do much about his site linking other then request its removed..

If someone links to here, and we're not linking back, then that clearly sends a message..

As to being tied up with 1 supplier, then CQ's is the clubs official parts supplier, that's been discussed and decide din the past, I'm in the throws of sorting a deal with Big Boys toys, (formerly VW heritage for mk1 bits n pieces) keep an eye for the announcement soon to be made in the members section for further details of that, and also Funk star is an official advertiser and soon will be launching Cabby Shack..
Also we have the discounts policy with GSF too…

So we do have a choice…

just to add my twopenneth, i have always used scouse / 1 golf ahead  and never had any problems at all. he has left parts out for me to collect, and sent me parts and i pay by return if thay are what i need or if they dont fix my problem then i send them back, and i didnt know of him until i joined this site so it is not like we are lifelong friends or anything.
