Any help getting a cab back on the road? fueltank and brakes

Hi everyone
Finally getting round to putting my 1987 clipper cabriolet back on the road.
the car is in cosmetically great condition, its been garaged since a hole was found in the fueltank! :banghead:  So it needs a bit done
obviously need a fuel tank replaced, a new radiater, a replacement rear passanger window and i would like to substantially improve the breaking. I'm also looking to get a new passenger door speaker cover.
Anyone with any tips or wanting to price any parts please advise.
I've read i can  upgrade to GTI brakes to improve the brakes is this just a bolt on job or am i best just going with scord discs.
I am based in glasgow.

Also just tried starting the cab! its firing up but hasn't been able to start. i have put new fuel in, charged it up, checked plugs/leads bit of wd40 its sounds like its going to but just won't fire up! but car has sat for past 2 years!
Any help or advice even abuse as long as its entertaining would be appreciated.

I've moved it to Chat, if you're selling or wanting parts there's separate areas which you could post specific things into.

done some digging and got some prices and info:

Breaking - do a full service - check for leaks, Change fluid, adjust rear brakes properly, replace pads and disks as necesary.  If still not adequate - they should be - then upgrade front to 256mm using Vauxhall calipers and carriers and MK2 256 disks - see links at end of message:
hilariously the brakes that i thought couldn't stop a rat on a rollerskate have seized on!
i'll be putting it in a garage then!
Also on insurance front got quote of ?365 fully comp. from more than pn confused.com! I'm 27 y.o m. clean licence zero no claims. think its alright?
tax ?180 a year.
i think its an immobiliser issue causing the starting probs! Theres a diagnostic sound player on A.A. website that and the fact that the light on the dash that blinks for it is flashing quickly and theres a clicking noise in time from the engine like it would make twice and then click into place originally. its a gamma not sure of model.
i'll be putting it in a garage then!
all the probs are adding up need to consider overall costs!
i've been priced
Used fuel tank - ?40 – is a used tank good?
New rad - I'd need to price it up but expect ?70 for new
Rear window ?15 used
Door speaker cover ?7.50 used
good pads + brakes est ?70
All +p+p
new battery ?60==  dont know how good or much used one'll be
i don't know if these parts will need new valves/ hosesetc so i'm est ?50 for misc. parts
the fuel tank had the filler replaced 6 months before the tank went.
I'm unsure at the garage costs for all this and a mot + full service, brakes, fluids etc.
so all in parts i'm saying ?300

labour at very much an estimate!
I'm hoping if theres no nasty surprises it'll be around ?500 :dontknow:
what do u guys pay for servicing?
ever had any these jobs done? what did you pay?
again chat and advice welcome

when the tank went in 2005 i was quoted ?450 for the tank but think that was parts and labour. tank was est ?200+

I'll put some pics up if i can get it out my garage!

Try a quote with Footman James or Carol Nash and go for classic insurance, if it's a project/second car you should get fully comp somewhere between ?100-?150 a year.
