boot lock rust

Looking for some advice, i have got hold of a 2nd hand tailgate thats in great condition except for the area around the boot lock! Looks like its been filled before and feels weak. i am planning on geting it sprayed up. whats the best fix to get done, its a tricky area to weld up from within but will filler last and be strong enough in this area?

Hi,

filler will need to be removed and metal repaired properly - and filler will soon fall out when you close the boot!

Get the welder out…

Be careful with the welder though because that flat area of the boot is easy to warp

Been there done that :$
