Advice (before I start)
As I've got a few days spare this christmas its about time I had a go at replacing my damaged gearbox as the mk1 hasn't moved for 2 years :redfaced:
Would I be safer to change the gearbox over and then change the linkage bushes (had a look at this in the "how to guide" or vice a versa???
As I've never changed a box etc in my life I'm really wary but I really want to do this myself as restoring my MK1 has become a bit of a passion
I have a fairly good socket set 4 axel stands a couple of trolley jacks and a pair of ramps do I require anything else ? how long should it roughly take and what problems might
I come across.
One last question I have read on here somewhere that it is better to fill the box through the speedo drive hole is this correct and how much oil and type will I require?
Thanks a lot.

have you got some spline sockets ? your ll need these to remove the driveshaft from the box.
not the worst job just can be a pain removing the box off of the flywheel a good wringle usually works

already got a shopping list cv boot and torque bar bush hope the VW dealers or GSF have them in stock.
Question :redfaced: why is it so hard to push the car about with neutral selected it seems to drop into gear I have to push it the opposite direction for a bit and then visa -versa (diff) maybe?
