accelerator pedal trouble

My accelerator cable keeps coming loose at the accelerator pedal.

There is like a rubber grommet that fits into place perfectly down there, as I can see should be there on vagcat and ETKA, but nothing holds it in place? and with minimal use, it keeps falling out and makes my accelerator cable useless.

Please help.

the grommit breaks down with age can get a new one from either VW or GSF.

check out the link below, you can see how they wear away, also gives you part nos as well.

Oh god, they're a nightmare. An emergency trip to a local mechanic after I failed three times with the new grommit left them doing a bit of a bodge job too. My regular mechanic has since fixed it up so it won't fall off again.

Thanks for the help folks.

My grommet seems okay, and I can't find a replacement on GSF or crazy's - it just keeps slipping out, it's not deteriorated or anything.

Local VW found me a wee clip though that shows up on ETKA as going alongside the grommet, and I'm hoping will do the trick.

Thanks again.

Well you learn something new every day! My accelerator pedal hasnt got a bush on it and never has since I've owned the car! I did think it was quite a design floor that there was no real way of holding the hook on the cable to the pedal! When mine came off i just put the hook back on n tightened the cable abit

Did you get the clip and rubber bits? I need them for mine, it's just got a hook floating in mid air! No doubt I won't be able to get them until the end of next week or something daft, but part numbers would be really helpful! Thanks :D
