abf or kr
hi,
i am buying a 2.0l 16v engine from someone and he does not know if its kr or abf! nor does he know if it came from mk2 or 3 as it was already in his mk1 when he bought it. please can anyone advise me on how to find out? i presume it will be on engine somewhere.
also if it is kr is it as good as the abf?
many thanks in advance, matt :dontknow:

If its a 2 ltr then its a much modded kr as they come in a 1.8 size, maybe a 9a? which is really a 2 ltr kr except for the camshafts, i prefer the abf as its newer and has the crankshaft position sensor wheel.

could always check for big 1.8 or 2.0 on the block. i think its on the front near the starter motor. would clear up the size.
id go for 2.0 makes sense to go bigger!
abf/9a/6a are the 2.0 valvers

No its not on the front…
The engine size is embossed on the rear lower center of the block, will say 1.8 or 2.0
