91 SPORTLINE - Dropping the roof manually??

I have a Sportline which does have an electric roof but which is not working at the moment (believe a relay has gone). How do I drop the roof ? is it as easy as undoing the clips and just pulling by hand? I thought this was the case but ive recently been speaking to my pal who says you have to do something in the boot ?? any ideas ??

Sorry but only recently bought the car and it came with no manual!

Ok pop your boot on the left hand side is your motors ect there is a largish winder (looks like its for a clockwork mouse) wind that anticlockwise to release fluid from pistons then crack on manually! However always put tonneau on roof will rise when you go over 40mph lol

but when i come to put back up what do i do then ? just pull up or do i have to turn knob again ? cheers again!

Well you can just leave it loose (unscrewed) and put it up and down as you please makes no differnce really but when you get ur electrics sorted  then it needs to be wound back in for it to work.

Was about to say ask chrisrivage cos he seems to know everything about hoods, then saw he had already replied, legend!

So turn anti clockwise to release fluid then use manually as many times as I wish untill electrics are sorted and then turn back clockwise !

Correctomundo! be aware though if you open (anticlockwise) it when the roof is up close (clockwise) it when the roof is up! if that makes sense you dont want to force fluid anywhere is dosen't want to go!

Bloody hell.

So I got the sportline back in october. barring a couple of times is been parked up away all winter untill last couple of weeks as I want to get it looking good for the summer.

Anyway when i bought the guy told me and also advertised the roof didnt open electrically only manually as one of the relays had gone so I never even tried it.

Anyway today after your post I thought i better make sure the knob has been turned anti clockwise.. it had. SO i thought I try turn it completely clockwise and then just try it ! and I couldnt believe the roof f*cking opened !! I dont know whos more stupid.. me for not checking or the guy who avdvertised the car saying the relay had gone !! get in !
