3 door 5 door weight differences

ok is a 5 door golf heavier than a 3 door??? if so by how much

would a 5 door be lighter than a cabby?

I reckon a five door tintop would still be lighter than a cabby. I think mine is approx 45kg more than a petrol 3 door (according to brochure stats), and most of that extra weight will be in the heavier diesel engine, leaving very little extra weight in the two small rear doors!  :dontknow:

well ive got a bit of a plan for a 5 door but dont want to start somthing that will end up being heavier than a 3 door

It's just not the done thing is it! There's a first for everything. From what I hear the five door is set to be the new three door  

how many 5 door golfs whoop imprezas down the strip would be funny as a hat and put the 5 door well and truly on the map :wink:

i would have thought you may well get a bit more flex in a 5 door shell compared to a 3 door one, but then again if it was caged and seam welded it shouldnt make much odds
