1990 Golf Clipper Cabriolet 1.8 Karman

Hi Newbie here, just sold my RX8, looking for a fun cheap reliable car to run.

Going to look at one, 1990 G Reg, 65k on clock, just had 6months tax and MOT. Was wondering what details anyone had on these? Cant find much information cant be surfing web too much at work.

So what to look for etc?
Tax?
Common problems?
Specs - interior/mpg etc?

Hi Pablo,

I'm not a cabby man myself, but a G reg could be either a 1.8 GTI model or a 1.8 carburettor engined Clipper. Both models have the bigger bumpers/body-kit, so I'd look around all the mounting edges of the body-kit for signs of rust (bubbles in paint) that could be lurking beneath.

MPG could vary between the injection and carb models, as will performance.

Probably be worth looking there for what people are getting rather than factory figures that are for brand new cars :wink:
