17inch alloys

:dontknow: hi peeps i have just put 17inch alloys on my mk1 cabby , it looks mad badboy lol .the question is
it dont rub until go round a corner or abit of weight in back. is there same i can do to stop it like put harder spring on (which ones or make )
where to get from . and dont say put 16inch on . lol  :dontknow:   :dontknow: or i will have to put up with it .

looks like a bad mistake then . mighty have to sell them or swop for 16inch

What tyres have you fitted and what width are the rims ?

To keep the same overall diameter you will need 215x35x17 tyres. For width you will find that anything over 7.5J will catch.

It will be horrible to drive due to the lack of give in such a low profile tyre, causing snatching and tram lining.

thay are 205/40 zr 17 84 w xl  , before i bought them got them to check first if thay would fit in the book etc

They would give an 18mm larger overall diameter than a standard 185x60x14 setup. So going to a lower profile might be just enough to clear…
215x35x17 are only 4mm larger, so negligible and within recommendation. But they will pull like a bee-atch  !!

only joking mate but I think 16's are pushing it.  15's is where its at for a daily mk1

15's are were its all at for mk1 / jetta / scirocco for that matter!!

if ya want 17's buy a corsa or punto ; )

thats not nice  mate i get the point  sell the 17inch and go for 16inch seen a mk1 cabby with 17inch on round the corner from me  moved now

NOT VERY NICE THING SAD ABOUT THE 17INCH ALLOYS  BEEN PUT ON A MK1 AND AS FOR DRIVING A PUNTO OR A CORSA , I WOULD RATHER  STUFF WASPS WHERE THE SUN DONT SHINE .

thay fit under the archs with 2 finger gap . are you on facebook put same pic on facebook tried to put on there

That's a really nice looking car mate - I think everyone when hearing 17"s on a Mk1 imagines that it is a bit boy racer but that looks sweet.
It's a shame they're scrubbing.

I'm surprised by the 'haters' that have come out on this thread. I wonder if their cars are as nice?  

just for the record im no hater or whatever etc. i think everyone can do what the want..i do.
