Retro Cars

Hello gang!

Been up to WH Smith today having a browse through the car mags, and noticed that this month`s Retro Cars has a feature on buying a Mk1 GTi !
It`s quite good actually, as it covers everything from bodywork, engine , suspension etc. About 5 pages in all….

Didn`t have time to buy it as i had to finish my x-mas shopping off  :(
Will pick it up a.s.a.p tho….

 Anyone else see it yet??

It is a good mag tbh. They have lots of variety of different oldskool motors. I always look out for it.

There is a good feature on a v-tec mini clubman too. I`ve grown out of mini`s now, but this is one conversion i always fancied dropping in a clubman- and a calibra 2.0l turbo!  8O

The calibra replacement is actually quite "Old-hat" now, it`s bleedin quick but it is a bit of a pain to squeeze in. There`s a lot of "hybrid this" and "hybrid that" to get it to work. The v-tec is more popular because it`s less hassle to fit, it`s a light engine, it`s jap - so it`ll run forever and be reliable to boot. The only disadvantage is that you can`t run 10"-ers or even 13" classic minilte wheels. As i remember it`s 14`s or even 15`s.
My best mini was my metro turbo powered one, wailed like a banshee and was torque steer city! Fun as a sunday blaster!!! One day i`ll have another mini again…one day

Dolomite sprint…yeah i`ve always fancied one of them too, it`s that bizarre mixture of screamin 16valver with the beige cloth and wooden veneer dash that really lights my fire! Love the lines too, and the mean quad light arrangement. Somehow reminds me of carry on camping!

There is one other classick i`ve always promised myself and that`s a mk1 escort, bubble arched mexico, or RS2000. What a car! Plus it has the all important rear wheel drive.. mucho fun  :D  Just begging for a cossie lump to be dropped in, and arse-out sideways action everywhere!

But that`s enough of my weird tangent. Good mag well worth a look.
