Watch Jason Plato rag my car trying to beat the latest Mk7.

He did ask me how hard he could drive it and I said "Just don't roll it!"

I wasn't going to mention it because the Mk1 lost and I don't know whether they shed the car in a good light or bad.

It was an interesting 2 days filming even if the feature is probably  a bit pants!

Nice photos, v.nice car.  Great to see such a clean MK1 on tv.

I nearly missed the episode myself. I was looking on their website and saw this is episode 17 and saw that 16 was last Monday.

Well he wasn't going to say it was s**t in front of my face after I just loaned it to him! We'll all find out tomorrow night I guess!

Classic Car Rescue is awful. Staged 'accidents' - remember the windscreen that was dropped only it had been changed and the one that broke had a top tint! It didn't improve much throughout did it?!
Agreed that Car SOS is excellent however.

The close up shots were nice, forgotten how glass smooth your paint is  

The first thing my wife spotted was the price! She had to remind me that I've spent double that on it over the years!

Regards the gearbox yes he tried to change to quick and beat the syncro. They filmed mine first in the morning so I took it off to Corby for a run round to make sure it was still ok after!  

It was an honest opinion by him I thought. Yes they are a bit lazy around the corners and the tyres are just about the worse you can have on a standard GTI which didn't help on such a tight course and we all know about the brakes.

Did look good on the still shots though!

And I would never swap it for a MK7 diesel just so I could do "fantastic" J-turns!
