Young'uns insurance

Ive been searching for insurance on my 1.1 mk1 golf. The main problem being it is modified (lowered, alloys and weber) meaning a lot of companies wont touch me. Some also dont like young drivers in classic cars (over 20-25 years old.) Quinn direct wouldnt insure a car over 20 years old at all.

However, ive just got off the phone to Adrian Flux with a quote for ?1675.19 with all modifications declared on my own policy with me as the only driver. Im quite pleased with that. Im now trying to play them with other companies to see if i can better it.

im 17 too, found my best quote came from CIS. might be worth a try. You get a good discount if you are the first in your family to use them, and a further discount if you buy online.

Well im 18 and i got a good quote from Liverpool Victoria, get the quote online in the week its cheaper. To be honest i didnt shop round much and the first quote i deemed reasonable i braught. Well my quote for a 1.6 Golf gx mk1 1983 was ?1100, (compared to ?2000-3000 with most insurers) i payed a deposit of 230 and like 9 months paying 110 each month (the monthly isntallments is good for younger drivers. i thought it was reasonable, but maybe its not. btw it was 3rd party, with fire and theft it was only an extra 60 odd quid.

also if you've got family members with a company or a pass plus you can use this to haggle a few hundred quid off your policy

Do it my way

I'm 18 and ave got a gti cabby, companys wont even insure me. But I got a escort turbo diesel that my mum give me for free! Which I use as my everyday car and save the golf for best :D

I insure the escort for ?800 with 1 year no claims, I pay to insure ONLY my dad on the golf which is like ?150. Now my insurance policy states I am insured 3rd party to drive any other vehicle aslong as its insured. I am with quinn direct. Sorted

I'm 17 and took up my insurance with LiverpoolVictoria for ?1200, because my stepmum has a separate policy with them. Pretty good i thought, seeing as it is a 1.5 and all.

Hopefully this year it will go down a little

i find confused.com to be quite good. i paid ?1100 for my 1.1 when i was 17,i think allot of policies now offer NCB even if you are not the main driver.which seems quite good. so get your mum or dad to insure it and you as second driver and build you NCB that way maybe.good luck hunting.

ring up ur insurance company, my mate did the same thing and crashed, he then found out although it says ur insured in the small print that you have to be over 25 to be insured 3rd party on another car.
