Ok, so its that time of the year again, so grabbed the company mobile :-), put aside an hour or two, and did the ringing around.
The last two years no ones come close to Peter Best, but this year i wanted to try some of the newer names that have come up over the club over the past 12 months
Insurance based on:
My Details
29 years old, Male
no claims, no convictions
Access to daily car with 8 years NCB against it
3 cars in total at household
Bristol postcode
Full time employeed - Sales Manager
Home owner
Insurance Basis - Classic Car Policy
Social Domestic and Pleasure
Fully Comp
Added the mods this year of coilovers and changed wheels
car garaged overnight
£5000 agreed value
Quotes on 3000 and 5000 mile limit per year
So here is how they came out:
(1)Peter Best
They only wanted £20 more to add the wheel and coilover changed, but it shot up when moving to 5000 miles
They did include breakdown cover though which the others dont (but i have this seperate anyway).
3000 miles - £175.00
5000 miles - £221.00
(2) Lancaster Insurance
3000 miles - £277.90
5000 miles - £310.00
(3) Sureterm Direct
3000 miles - £338.13
5000 miles - Didnt ask as above price was so high
(4) Adrian Flux
3000 miles - didnt ask as 5000 mile price so good
5000 miles - £150.00
This also includes
- any further cosmetic mods with no change to premium
- i emailed them over pics of my car and have agreed with them before i have commited to taking out a policy, my agreed value of £5000 is accurate and acceptable, as one of the member recently had problems with an agreed value with them
- this includes commuting incase i take it to work on the occasional sunny day (others are just social , domestic and pleasure)
£100,000 free legal cover
£150 excess, £80 windscreen
+ £36 if i wanted breakdown
(5) Carole Nash
4000 miles - £175.00
included AA breakdown cover
Agreed Value
Salvage rights
£100 excess
(6) Bishop Callaway
I emailed them for quote and they emailed back saying they could not beat the £150.00 Adrain Flux Price
My Peter Best policy is up on weekend and i will prob head in Adrain Flux's direction :-)
Just thought it might help others roughly pricing insurance etc
If anyone thinks there is anyone else i should try this week let me know
Cheers
Rich

+1 for Adrian Flux. I called them awhile back and they quoted. £168 for the same vehicle as you based on a 3000 mile/yr limit.

Adrian Flux have struggled to match my current insurer and indeed my other recent policies over the years. They have always quoted me just not really competetively enough for me to go with them
Might be a postcode thing??

I spoke with Adrian Flux today, they couldn't beat my quote from Lancaster at £193, they said it would be about double that price.
Ill try Footman James and Peter Best on the weekend before I commit.

Dan
I will be on to yourselves tomorrow hopefully as I've already done a quote online and want to
firm it up on the phone and work out the photo bit for the agreed valuation.

Just sorted with Adrian Flux with agreed value, all mods, courtesy car, 3000 miles etc for just under £200.
Happy enough even if I could have saved a wee bit more.
