Peter Best Warning.
Check your documents if you have agreed valuation.
Took out insurance with them with agreed value.
Documents came through but only for market value.
Spoke to them and they said no value will be agreed untill peter sais so.
I wasnt told this over the phone.
So untill its given the green light (and they couldnt tell me when this would be) its inly insured at market value even tho im paying for agreed.
Just a heads up to check your documents.

I have been with them for 3 years now after one year with Footmans and thier premiums are really good for me and thier service is good.
It was the same for me when i picked up the sportline, as they cant implement the agreed value till they have had the evidentual pictures of your car. I took about 6 pics, inside and outside from every angle and engine bay and within a week my new slip at bottom which says your insuracne details was sent back through with my agreed vale and my pics returned with one of them stamped by Peter Best to say they have recieved then.
cheers
Rich

They had the photos the day I took the policy out (sent them early)
She said there shouldnt be a problem.
Only problem for me is if the unthinkable happend I would only get market value.

You will only get the agreed value if you go through yours.

You would think your company would reimburse you and then sue the other to recover the extra?
Or you could sue the other other driver for the difference through the Small claims court I suppose.
Ceri, cotton wool for the cabby me thinks.
Posting your bits this afternoon.

it is frustrating that if hit by someone else thier insurance would want to pay out market value , but in that situation i would get a non fault claim company involved who i have used before. They will then take the agreed value we have on our cars and well and an independent vehicle inspectors valuation and any adverts etc you can find for cars simmilar to yours, and i would also produce all the invoices and receipts etc for money spent on the car and push for my agreed value price. They are probably most likely to come back with a better value on your car but a very low buy it back cost, you then have to deicde if you dont wana buy it back how much you want to push for more money on the payout
minefield insurance hey, there is usually always a way out for the bloomin insurance companies

Currently got a £4500 agreed value on it, but would like to increase that a little now i have done mohair roof and some tidy up bits. Think after bits of paint and wheel refurb next year next year i would like it to be more around the £5500-£6000 mark, but my car isnt anywhere near the level of renovation and restoration you have put into yours mate.
my premium was only about £130 i think though which i am happy with.
hi just wanted to find out what they are giving you for £130..??

The policies these guy's are discussing are generally regarded as classic car insurance policies and work on the basis that the car is not your main daily car (but not always).
They vary from company to company but generally they offer fully comprehensive cover with breakdown cover and agreed value, salvage retention and allow modifications to vehcles - subject to terms and conditions of course.
Typically the car has to be restricted to limited mileage (ranging up to max 7500 but they vary some have a max of 2500 or 5000) and garaged, alarmed and most I have tried you have to have the use of another vehicle for daily use to be able to insure this way.
Whilst your driving record / claim history is obviously taken into consideration, because this is not your primary vehicle - your no claims bonus is not used against these policies - and therefore you canot gain further no claims bonus on these types of policy.
To get agreed value - most require 6 or so photo's and lists of work carried out.
You have to do a bit of work to make sure they offer exactly what you need - like the points mentioned above and each year my insurance company requires a digital image of the mileage reading for instance.
They are well worth a look at to see if the suite your needs.
hope this helps?

was curious as i have vintage cover, fully comp, 8000 miles and agreed value of £5000 + my bbs rm's at £1000..also i can drive other vehicle's 3rd party.. which isn't usually included in classic or vintage policies…
but this is costing me nearly 3 x times what one of the others is paying…
i did realise there are variable's like age and convictions but didn't realise there are more than the main 2 insurance brokers..
also interesting to find out about if your hit by another driver, will be checking with my broker as to how they del with it…
thanks again

8000 miles is a lot for a limited mileage policy, that's not too far off a regular average mileage (10000-12000 miles). When I had classic car insurance, the biggest way to get the premium down was to reduce the mileage more.
