Hi,

I went with Chaucer Insurance via Adrian Flux.  I didn't have any years no-claims and got quoted just over ?500 per year for a 5000 limited mileage policy.

Cheers

I'm with Lancaster Insurance with a classic car policy and it's costing me ?384 fully comp.

I'm 24 with 2 years no claims.

A lot cheaper than others i tried, Adrian Flux, Carole Nash, Elephant, HIC and Liverpool Victoria could not come close, the majority of which quoted ?600+.

Try HIC, they were the best for me on a 5k limited mileage policy zero no claims applied, like for like cover all mods declared (alloys, coilovers, colour change, body mods, Rallye lights, Clipper kit, chrome engine work etc, etc), cost me ?330 full comp.

If you look on the golfgti forum there is a guy by the username of martinb who works for them and was very helpfull sorting my policy for the mk1 and mk2.

Yes phone HIC, they will probably put you on a Chaucer policy. I have my Scirocco on a good policy with them. It's cheap, good cover, agreed value, and lets you do track-days!! But you have a contract to pay for a whole year, no cancellations etc

Have to agree with Morb.

My details are;
39.9 years old
Mk1 Campaign
Agreed evaluation of ?3000
Limited mileage 3000
Live in London
Car parked on drive
0 NCD as I use that on my other car. But I have about 8 years on that
0 points on licence

Got a quote from Lancaster for ?480. That did include my wife on it too - big deal.

Anyway, called Adrian Flux (who I used to be with last year) and they quoted me ?274.90 incl full breakdown cover (Europe to), legal cover and excess of only ?150. Thing is, that was for only 1500 miles  :?

So, I asked them to quote for 3000 miles - same criteria, same package and got a quote back for ?182 - go figure??????? So that's 1500 miles more for ?100 less!! Very good deal given ?42 of that is breakdown cover - which for a Mk1 GTI you would never need anyway

Anyway snapped up the quote before they changed their minds!

Just insured mine today with Adrian Flux….

Fully Comp'
All mods declared
Agreed Value of ?2500
Limited mileage of 5k
150XS
They have taken into account 2yrs NC bonus (main bonus is used on 1st car)
Company is Royal Sun Alliance (maybe they give discount to the more mature driver   )

Quote came in at ?144.31

Pretty good value I thought, especially when Flux quoted me ?301 at renewal time last year. I declined and declared it SORN, as I usually do in the winter.
