INSURUNG A 16V MK1

just read the other posts thought id ring footman james, im 23 have a 16v motor going in my golf, i have full no clams in my own name, and no points! and i was rejected they wouldnt quote! but i've got a lot invested in my car and want a agreed price, and would like to insure all my mods i.e. coilovers, bigger brakes, exhaust, leather seats, and importantly it having the bigger engine fitted! where's worth a try?

bit worried i may struggle with this!

I'm with HIC, im 21, 3 points, 4-maybe 3… years no claims, and 3 non fault accidents.

it was going to cost me ?98 ontop of my current policy to put a 16v engine in until december. :)

Try Adrain Flux - even though they own HIC now they still have different policies.

Lancaster Insurance do classics and try any other classic car insurer.  If you are willing to limit the mileage your premium will come down too.

Heritage insurance, agreed value of ?5000, all mods declared, european and uk recovery included, clean license ?190 fully comp

Speeding is like masturbation, everyone does it ,but it's not something you should record and put on the internet!!

I'm 23, 3 points, no accidents, 6 years NCB.

My MK1 is insured with HIC cost me ?390 (ish) fully comp with 16v motor, all mods declared and agreed value of 6.5k. The 16v motor actually cost an extra ?3 on top of the old engine

HIC seems to beone of the best for under 25's

As we've got a great members deal with footman jones, they can be so cheap that they make turning 25 worth every minute..

In my younger days i had a tuned VW camper and no one could touch HIC for price, especially with agreed value etc too

I'm looking at approaching HIC about some kind of discount policy for members under 25 so watch this space (sorry I know that doesnt help in the meantime)

Agree with Flux and HIC for the younger insurers, used them for years but now i'm old I can get better deals elsewhere namely Fotman James.

p.s. Lawsy if you need a HIC contact for discounts etc, shout me.

makes me glad to be aged. i used flux years ago with ALL mods fully declared and it put about ?100 on top of my insurance, which was about ?4-500 i think. good to deal with then.
