Insurance Quotes...

Confused…

Got my Renewal through from Elephant - gone up to ?378 from ?350 last year - Fully comp in the missus' name, 5 years (now 6) NCB, no points, claims etc. Standard car, driveway parking, me as main driver…

Been on Confused.com - cheapest quote ?230 FC, ?154 TPFT.

Just been on Footman James. Got to put it in the garage and they want ?808 ????

I had a quote of ?140 last year for classic policy, down part is the garage - it's full of motorbikes !

Think i'll keep looking…

Footman James called this evening…

told me the internet gave me the wrong price - should be ?354…

Better, but for the hassle of clearing my garage and having nowhere to put my bikes, i think i'll stick with a standard policy for now…

You can still get Classic Insurance with no garage. You are just more limted on the people that will cover you. Mine is declared as driveway parked and I get Classic cover with no worries.

Aidrian Flux were the cheapest for me at ?138 and HIC a close second at ?168.

Been sorting out the renewal on my cabbie gti over the past couple of days.  Currently with Adrian Flux under the missus name, she was under 25 years old, 1 year NCB, 6 points from me and we paid ?550 TPFT.  They've now offered ?340 TPFT, Churchill ?833, AA ?512, FJ ?390 and Performance want ?300 Fully comp.  Still amazes me how varied the premiums can be.  Even though Churchill have some advertising campaign on at the mo about beating other insurers, they refused to budge on the price.

For people looking for insurance, I would advise shopping around.  Not so much Confused.com, moneysupermarket.com etc but individual companies.  It will take ages but could you save you a few squids.  I've managed to save ?250 off my old policy and got fully comp too.

With regards to classic car insurance, some companies cover cars only 10 years old under classic insurance policies.  I think generally the premiums are lower because of limited mileage

The norm is 15 years for Classic Cover, all Mk1's qualify for this no worries.

just had a quote from footman James for classic insurance on my cabby ok its got a few mods stainless exhaust re-bored 1.9 and bigger brakes( you think they would reduce premium for that mod) I'm 43 got 3yrs ncb no points from plod, car parked in locked yard area and 6000 limited miles
quote ?485 he said without the mods it would have been ?430 on confused.com Direct line quote with no mods ?230 and to think we get 10% off footman being a club member

Dont ask what your club can do for you, but what can you do for your club?

More and more insurance companies are putting renewals up these days, all the best offers go to attracting new customers.

Best option is to keep moving your insurance, there is no reward in being a loyal customer anymore so don't be loyal.

I use moneysupermarket for mine http://www.moneysupermarket.com/motor/ and find a different company to use each time.

I've had insurance with a different company the last 3 years now because of this.
