Only thing you can do mate is phone around.
What works for 1 wont work for everyone.
Congrats in passing your test.

cheers for the reply and thanks,
it sucks because fman and james stopped doing classics for 17 year olds like 2 weeks on the day i passed!
cheapest quote iv got so far is 2400 with my mum and dad on it too!
does insurance come down in the new year? or is this a myth i have heard of

I wouldnt have thought the time of year would affect price, I could be wrong tho.

Try Peter Best Insurance services.
They out did Flux, footman and premium choice.
I got Club discount for being a Member.
Problem is if your using the car as a daily it's difficult to get Classic overage which obviously is cheaper.
It normally contains limited mileage clauses etc and acsess to another car.
Worth trying Heritage and Peter Best also.
Good Luck.

try lancaster insurance. they quored me at the age of 24, ok so i'm a bit older that 17 but still under the normal 25years of age requirement for classic car policies. not sure about it being a daily though.
Herts insurance sorted me out for my caddy on a classic van policy, milage limited to 6000 but can be used to commute…

When you get a qoute from either Adrian Flux or even FJ if you havent tried them already due to the age restrictions, see what the comparisions are between members of clubs and non, then if there is a big difference, well you know what your next course of action will be lol.............

Just wondering how you got on with this
my son is 17 just passed his test and the best quote i have had is £4100 fully comp with LV insurance, all these so called specialists that advertise on here won't even quote me.
no company wants to insure a 17 yr old with a car over 25 yrs old
the car is 1982 1.1 golf c totaly standard
the current insurance situation is a joke, i'm sure that in a year or so time when they have no new business these insurance companies will be begging for new business. either that or there will be whole generation of young adults that simply don't drive.
btw i am an old bloke at 40 and insure the same car fully comp for just less than £100 (classic policy)

Forget the golf and get a car you can insure for a few years to build up your ncd then when you hit 21 get a mk1 again. Sorry but that might be the harsh reality.
