Golf GTI insurance for an 18 year old?

Hey, so hard to find mk1 hard top non gti's and I was thinking it might be worth going for a GTI? Anyone think I'd get insured on one at the age of 18?

Also, anyone my age had any good deals on insurance?

I'm 18 with a 1600 GTI and it's not as expensive as you'd think.
Because of the age of the car it's noticeably different to say a Saxo VTS or any modern euro-box like that with the same CC.

My cover at the moment is just over ?2,300 with Swinton TPFT.
It is expensive but I'm due to re-new soon so that should come down.
But depending on other stuff [mods, area, alarm, storage etc.] it'll fluxuate obviously.
But try classic car insurers, they'll sort you out best I think.

A Polo GTI for me was ?3,600 TPFT which was ridiculous so as a comparitive it's cheaper to insure than modern 1600's.

Try moneysupermarket.com mate. I want a GTI next year (18 atm) and with my details as they will be next year the quote was just over ?1200 for TPFT with my Dad as a named driver. Hope this helps.

try elephant and put ur mum on the policy    droped my by about 100quid
done a 10month bonus thing and got a years no claims now im o normal policy

im with tesco, and the insurance for my 1985 1.8 golf cabrio (non gti) was ?800 for my first year, i just got my renewal back this week as im 18 on sunday, and it is now ?560, but that is as an added driver to my mums policy (cheapest way) it hink with tesco you can also build up your no claims with them if your an added driver, as long as you stay with them

Try 'The Post office' for your car insurance .

Im 18, my policy runs out in June and i'm going to get a few quotes for 1.6 GTI's.

But when I passed, age 17 my first car was a mk1 1.1c. Was ?1,700 for 12 months.

I thought that was cheap  :dontknow: Im hoping the GTI in June will be something similar

i'm paying just over 2k for my 1.3!

and it's in bits in my unit

not cancelling my cover as i will lose my no claims, off to look at another car today and should be able to swap it over onto that

when i've finished my mk1 it's going to be running a G60 lump, i'll be 20, can't wait to see insurance quotes for that…

I paid ?1,550 last year for TPFH on my 1986 cabby gti that was 10 months with elephant and I'm 23.

But I had no, no claims and 3 points.

i have just got insure with NIG , at the time 3 weeks ago i was 22 (now 23) have 3 years no claims , a SP30 with a ban (3months) end of last year (see my old car in car section)

I am 18 with no no-claims, 3 points and went with diamond. But i am a named driver and the car is registered with my mums name.. It was either do that or not have an mk1. ?1500 a year tpft…

Get one its woth it, better than the 306 i had before!(mk1 1.8 gti cab)

I got a few quotes with them  on my 1.1 N. Come back at ?1100

I added my mum and dad as named drivers, got it down to ?707
