Funny thing was as I clicked the last link to get the quote my mobile rang and it was them asking me what I though! I have to say that's the fastest response to anything I've ever had.
So, it looks like I might have to become a member of The Mk1 Owners' Club after all as it will actually save me a few pennies plus allowing me access into a couple more forums so I can be annoying there too.
I'll just have to check out the details like legal cover and customer feedback before I commit to anything.
Anybody here actually insured with them and have a story to tell?

As I understood insurance, you choose whether to have legal protection (uninsured loss recovery) as an add-on to your policy, basically don't look at it as a 'perk' of FJ but as a component of the insurance, which other insurers offer. But make sure if you get comparative quotes, to include/exclude this as appropriate. Some online quote things allow you to take it off or add it in, and its around ?15-20.

As for customer service that phone call was so quick out of the trap it scared me!
Excess at ?150 is reasonable too.

I walked in to the offices of FJ in Cradley Heath,W.Mids.. came out with fully comp, not garaged,3000 miles limited,?2500 value,?50 excess for ?203.00… well happy, staff very helpful too. I did find if you get a quote off anyone on-line and put in your phone number, they would all call back next day. Put a mates number in!!

By the way, when is your renewal date?
Ages away yet but I did fess up and the guy said that that was fine and the quote wouldn't change much as the car was over 15 years old. Of course this is dependent on my circumstances not changing either!

Thanks for that, unfortunately the thing that matters above all is Post Code and that's not changing for a little while so I'm stuffed at about ?350 no matter how old and broken I get. Anyway with the great value Club Membership offer I'll save a small stack if I go with FJ.
